Accessibility Statement
We want everyone to be able to use rodel.at and shop with us – with a screen reader, using only a keyboard, with magnification or other assistive technology. This statement applies to the online shop of Kathrein Rodel GmbH at www.rodel.at in German and English.
What we offer
On rodel.at we sell sledges made in our own workshop in Prutz (Tyrol), Austria, together with accessories. For our family and touring sledges you choose the colours and can add a laser engraving. We ship throughout Europe; you can also collect your order at our factory.
How ordering works
- Choose a sledge or accessory. On the product page, select the variant and colours. If you like, enter an engraving text (up to 50 characters per side); the preview and the number of characters left appear directly below the field.
- Click “Add to cart” to put the item in your cart.
- In the cart, check the items and quantities and continue to checkout.
- At checkout, enter your billing and delivery address and choose shipping or collection and a payment method.
- Accept the terms and conditions and place your order. You will then receive an order confirmation by email.
All conditions can be found in our terms and conditions, the right of withdrawal, shipping costs and delivery times and the privacy policy.
How we meet the requirements
This statement is based on the Austrian Accessibility Act (Barrierefreiheitsgesetz, BaFG) and the German Accessibility Strengthening Act (Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz, BFSG). We use the European standard EN 301 549 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, level AA, as our benchmark. So far we have implemented:
- Keyboard: links, menus including the language switcher, the colour selection and all forms can be reached with the Tab key. The active element is marked with a clear outline.
- Colour selection: each colour swatch is a labelled button with the colour name; screen readers announce which colour is selected. The selected colour is also marked with a tick, not by colour alone.
- Contrast: text, buttons and input fields have sufficient contrast against the background.
- Display: pages adapt to the screen size and can be zoomed; even at a width of 320 pixels no horizontal scrolling is needed. Buttons and links are large enough to hit reliably.
- Structure: header, navigation, main content and footer are marked up, and the language of each page is set.
- Forms: input fields are labelled; the engraving field shows how many characters are left.
- Cookie notice: it can be operated by keyboard, nothing is preselected, and “Reject” sits on equal terms next to “Accept”.
What is not yet accessible
rodel.at is partially accessible. The following content does not yet fully meet the requirements. We are working on it and keep this list up to date.
- Reload on first visit: on the first click or key press, the page reloads once to show prices and tax for your country. The focus then jumps to the top of the page. After that the page works normally.
- Images without text alternatives: some product photos, the images in the size overview on product pages, images on “Toboggans Tips” and “About Kathrein”, the customer logos on “Custom Branding”, the location map and the logos in the footer do not yet have a description for screen readers.
- Dimensions as graphics: on the category pages, the length and runner angle of the sledges are shown only in a graphic. We are happy to give you all dimensions by email or phone.
- 360° view: it can only be rotated by dragging with a mouse or finger. The photos in the product gallery show the sledge from several angles.
- Checkout and cart: required fields are marked only with an asterisk, the state/region field is not correctly exposed to screen readers, and the product image in the cart is a link without a name.
- Home page: hidden items in the image carousel can be reached with the Tab key.
- Mobile menu: it does not report its state (open/closed) correctly to screen readers.
- Headings: some pages have two main headings or skip a level.
- PDF documents: the catalogue and the sledge instructions are not accessible. On request we will send you the content in an accessible format.
- Videos: one video on “About Kathrein” has no title for screen readers; we are still checking subtitles.
How this statement was prepared
This statement is based on a self-assessment carried out from 23 to 26 October 2026: automated testing with axe-core plus manual tests with the keyboard, at different screen widths, with zoom and with contrast measurement. Prepared on 26 October 2026, last reviewed on 26 October 2026.
Found a barrier? Let us know
If you come across a barrier on rodel.at or need content in a different format, please get in touch. It helps if you tell us the page address, a short description of the problem and, if you use one, your assistive technology (for example a screen reader or magnifier). If you get stuck while ordering, we will help you by phone or email and can also take your order that way.
